 The Union government has unveiled a digital-first overhaul of India’s pharmaceutical regulatory framework, focusing on real-time tracking of medicines. The system will digitally map every stage of a drug sample’s journey-from pharmacy shelves to testing laboratories-using unique QR codes, mobile applications, and mandatory videography.  

Officials emphasized that traditional manual inspection methods were vulnerable to manipulation, undermining trust in India’s pharmaceutical exports. By deploying advanced digital tools, the government seeks to curb corruption, enhance transparency, and reinforce India’s reputation as a reliable supplier of medicines worldwide.  

Industry experts believe this initiative will not only improve domestic compliance but also strengthen India’s standing in regulated international markets.
