India Post has launched ‘Gyan Post,’ a new initiative aimed at making books and educational materials more accessible across the country. The service offers affordable delivery options, ensuring that learning resources reach students, institutions, and libraries without logistical hurdles.
Key Features:
- Books and study materials can be sent through the postal network at concessional rates, starting from Rs 20 for packets up to 300 grams and Rs 100 for parcels up to 5 kg.
- The service includes real-time tracking, allowing senders and recipients to monitor deliveries efficiently.
- Only non-commercial educational materials are eligible, ensuring that textbooks, preparation guides, and cultural literature reach learners without unnecessary costs.
- The initiative aligns with India’s broader education policy, supporting knowledge dissemination to even the most remote areas.
- The service became operational at all departmental post offices nationwide on May 1, 2025.
