Maruti Suzuki India Limited has entered into a strategic collaboration with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to promote innovation and facilitate new business opportunities for Japanese and Indian startups. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed here today in New Delhi will establish a two-way bridge between the two nations' startup and innovation ecosystems.

Under this pact, Indian startups will be able to tap into Japan's strong innovation network, and Japanese startups will be able to tap into India's vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem. The partnership will involve mutual engagement in events, networking, and liaison with appropriate partners in both markets.

Startups identified under Maruti Suzuki's four innovation flagship programs—Accelerator, Incubation, Mobility Challenge, and Nurture—can apply. The program will be accessible to Japanese startups through JETRO's platforms.

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India, said, "Startups are the drivers of innovation and economic growth. With this MoU, we would like to offer a platform for innovative Indian startups to access the Japanese business ecosystem and harness bilateral techno-cooperation."

Takashi Suzuki, JETRO India's Chief Director General, further said, "This alliance will strengthen our relationship and spur innovation-driven economic growth in both countries and pave the way for even greater business success collaborations."

The action is consistent with India's 'Make in India' and 'Startup India' policies and is predicted to further enhance the economic and technical relationship between India and Japan.
