The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has directed all ten IPL franchises to recall their foreign players, which means that a decision on resuming the 18th season of the IPL is imminent. The league was halted for a week due to Indo-Pak tensions along the borders, leading to the abrupt postponement of the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamshala last Thursday. With the ceasefire in place now, BCCI officials confirm that the tournament is set to make its return, with teams prepared to play the remaining 16 games, most likely in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. There are even possibilities of shifting the venue of the final match from Kolkata due to rain forecasts. Whereas most of the foreign players would presumably return except for a handful, franchises have been asked to give them carte blanche, respecting force majeure clauses in their contracts.
