Jay Jalaram Technologies Ltd. (JJTL) today announced that it has been formally registered as an "Importer of Plastic Packaging" under India's amended Plastic Waste Management (PWM) Rules, 2016. Clearance from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) enables electronics-peripherals manufacturing company based in Ahmedabad to lawfully import plastic components and packaging with a commitment towards stringent Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) targets for recycling and waste offset.

JJTL, a cable, keyboard, and accessory supplier to leading e-commerce and retail chains, said the sanction will facilitate faster customs clearances, lower freight delays, and allow the company to include higher-grade recycled polymers in products in the next 18 months. Management also reported that it was already in talks with two local recyclers to co-design closed-loop package solutions.

Key Highlights
  • Regulatory green light: CPCB registration secured after six-month audit of JJTL's EPR plan and traceability systems.
  • Commercial impact: Expected 12 % decrease in customs dwell time and ₹1.5 cr yearly savings via easy imports.
  • Sustainability roadmap: Achieve 100% recyclable retail packaging by FY27; pilot production begins Q3 FY26.
  • Industry cue: JJTL is among a growing number of MSME technology businesses formalizing EPR compliance for supply-chain resilience and ESG-ready customers.
  • Future course: Board to consider green bond issuance to raise funds to finance in-house shredding and granulation plant at Gandhinagar unit.
