Virat Kohli has once again rewritten cricket history, achieving a feat never seen before in T20 cricket during the ongoing IPL 2025 season. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) icon became the first player in the world to hit 800 fours for a single T20 team, cementing his legacy as one of the most consistent and prolific batters in the sport’s shortest format.

Kohli reached this landmark during a high-octane IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium. Chasing a daunting target of 232, Kohli delivered a brisk 43 off 25 balls, peppering the boundary with seven fours and a six. This innings not only gave RCB a strong start but also propelled Kohli into the record books as the first player to ever hit 800 fours for a single T20 franchise.

This achievement puts Kohli well ahead of his peers. The next closest is James Vince, who has 694 fours for Hampshire, followed by Alex Hales (563 for Nottinghamshire), Rohit Sharma (550 for Mumbai Indians), and Luke Wright (529 for Sussex). Kohli’s ability to find the boundary with such regularity over a long career is a testament to his skill, adaptability, and fitness.

The 2025 IPL season has seen Kohli in sublime form, already notching up 505 runs in 11 innings at an average exceeding 63, including seven half-centuries and leading the race for the Orange Cap. Earlier in the season, he also became the first player to score 500 or more runs in eight separate IPL seasons, further underlining his unmatched consistency.

Kohli’s boundary-hitting prowess is just one of several records he has shattered this year. He also became the first Indian to reach 13,000 T20 runs and the first player to score 1,000 runs against four different IPL teams, showcasing his dominance across formats and opponents.

With his latest milestone, Virat Kohli continues to inspire fans and teammates alike, proving why he remains one of the most celebrated and influential figures in cricket history.
