As Ola-funded Krutrim speeds up its AI and semiconductor plan, the company is riding a new round of top-level departures and internal reorganization.

Major Developments:
  • - Three of the senior leaders—John Williamson (Senior Director), Dinesh Mittal (Head of Engineering), and Sharath Adavanne (Director of Applied AI)—departed over the past few months, adding to over 20 leadership departures in the past year.
  • - More than a dozen of the linguist employees were terminated this week. Internal sources did show, though, that those jobs were project-based and the entire linguistics staff numbers around 600 employees.
AI and Semiconductor Drive
  • - In spite of the churn, Krutrim is doubling down on its AI infrastructure. Work on Krutrim Model 3, a multibillion-parameter model, is going well. The model will surpass the 12-billion-parameter Krutrim 2 in size and usage.
  • - The firm is also testing its next-generation AI chips Bodhi 1 and 2 and is in talks with foreign manufacturers to ramp up the production level.
  • - Ola has launched a new consumer AI agent platform called Kruti. It is already integrated into its ecosystem and manages tasks like cab booking, food ordering, and bill payment.
Strategic Growth:
Krutrim is looking for partnerships in healthcare, retail, and government services. Talks are underway with ONDC to bring on board metro tickets and mobile recharges. - The company's spokesperson said that the turnover of staff is at industry levels and that all major projects are still on schedule.
