Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has clinched its largest single contract to date, a colossal ₹150 billion (approximately $4-5 billion) deal from QatarEnergy LNG. This engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract is for the second phase of Qatar's North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) project.
The project involves constructing two large gas compression systems, compression platforms, flare gas platforms, and associated structures. This mega-contract is crucial for Qatar's ambitious plan to expand its LNG capacity from 77 million tonnes per annum to 126 million tonnes.
For L&T, this win significantly bolsters its hydrocarbon segment and international order book, aligning with its strategy to expand operations in the Middle East. The company's shares responded positively, trading 2% higher following the news.
This landmark deal cements L&T's position as a global EPC leader and showcases India's growing prowess in the international energy sector.
