• Powers & Oversight: The Authority shall have the power to requisition services, facilities, and manpower from government departments and local bodies, and shall be reviewed periodically by a committee of ministers.
• Safety & Infrastructure Focus: It is the responsibility of the Authority to enact emergency regulations, approve new temporary townships, and provide a safe, clean, and spiritually enriching experience for all.
• Historic Scale: The last Kumbh Mela at Nashik hosted 2.5 crore visitors, and the figures are expected to grow higher in 2026-28.
Prospects: Through this bill, Maharashtra is aiming to organize a world-class, accident-free Kumbh Mela with strong facilities, security, and a memorable spiritual experience for crores of devotees.
