Star Power: IISER’s Prof Talukdar Shines Bright with CRS Silver Medal Win

IISER Pune Professor Pinaki Talukdar has received the prestigious CRS Silver Star Medal from the Chirantan Rasayan Sanstha for his trailblazing research in chemical sciences. Talukdar, who has been awarded for his trailblazing research in the domain of supramolecular chemistry and molecular recognition, is transforming cancer treatment procedures in his studies.

Major Achievements

Awarded for developing artificial molecular systems which are biological ion channel analogues

His work targets cancer cells by disrupting ionic balance, presenting a new therapeutic approach

The award will be formally presented at the CRS symposium to be conducted in Manipal on August 1–2

Scientific Impact

Talukdar's approach avoids the traditional protein or DNA targeting, lessening harm to normal cells

He has already received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize and is a Fellow of different science academies
