The main points of the announcement
Misri, accompanied by Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, spoke to the media, highlighting that Operation Sindoor was a cautious, non-aggressive retaliation to the lethal Pahalgam terror attack and not an act of aggression.
The operation, carried out by India's Army, Navy, and Air Force, targeted nine terror camps within 25 minutes, reportedly eliminating more than 80 terrorists affiliated with organizations such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Misri emphasized that terror camps alone were hit and with caution so as not to harm civilians and non-military targets.
He briefed diplomats from 13 nations reiterating India's position that the strikes were intelligence-based and intended to smash the terror chain.
With a career of more than three decades in diplomacy, Misri has worked in various roles that included being an ambassador to China, Spain, and Myanmar, and as Deputy National Security Advisor.
Misri’s leadership in this critical moment reflects his reputation as a seasoned diplomat and trusted government strategist.
