Meta’s Generative Genius Goes Local—‘Imagine Me’ Launches in India
Meta has officially launched its AI-powered image generation tool, ‘Imagine Me,’ in India, allowing users to create personalized avatars of themselves using simple text prompts and selfies. The feature is now available across Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and the Meta AI app, marking a major step in Meta’s push to integrate generative AI into everyday social experiences.

How ‘Imagine Me’ Works
Users initiate a chat with @Meta AI and type prompts like “Imagine me as a 90s rockstar” or “Imagine me in a Renaissance painting”

First-time users upload three selfies (front, left, right) to help the AI understand facial features

Meta AI then generates stylized images based on the prompt, powered by its Emu image synthesis model

All generated images carry a watermark: “Imagined with AI” for transparency

Users can edit, regenerate, or delete their images anytime and have full control over their setup photos and preferences.

Where You Can Use It
Available on Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger

Works in individual and group chats

Designed for mobile-first users, especially in India’s fast-growing digital ecosystem

Meta emphasizes that the tool is a creative extension of personal identity, enabling users to visualize themselves in imaginative scenarios—from moonwalks to medieval quests.

Privacy & Control
Setup photos are stored securely and can be updated or deleted

The feature is locked to one user profile per device, preventing misuse

Meta assures users that facial data is not shared or used for other purposes
