Modi on the Move: Historic Announcements and Big-Ticket Launches in Four States

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has kicked off a whirlwind two-day tour across Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh, unveiling a massive wave of development projects and marking key milestones in each state.
Sikkim: Celebrating 50 Years of Statehood
The tour began in Sikkim with Modi headlining the “Sikkim@50: Where Progress meets Purpose and Nature Nurtures Growth” event at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok.
He inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects including a ₹750-crore, 500-bed hospital in Namchi, a passenger ropeway in Gyalshing, and a statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Gangtok.
Modi also released a commemorative coin and stamp celebrating Sikkim’s golden jubilee as a state.
West Bengal: Boosting Clean Energy
By early afternoon, the Prime Minister moved to Alipurduar, West Bengal, to lay the foundation stone for the City Gas Distribution project in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar.
The ₹1,010-crore project aims to deliver piped natural gas to over 2.5 lakh households and 19 CNG stations, promising cleaner fuel and new jobs.
Bihar: Modernizing Air Travel and Power
Modi’s next stop was Patna, where he inaugurated a state-of-the-art terminal at Patna Airport, built for ₹1,200 crore, and laid the foundation for Bihta Airport’s new civil enclave.
On May 30, he is set to unveil and launch projects worth over ₹48,520 crore in Karakat, including the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project and major highway upgrades, boosting Bihar’s industrial and connectivity landscape.
Uttar Pradesh: Infrastructure Push
The tour concludes in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, with Modi launching and laying foundation stones for projects worth nearly ₹20,900 crore, including metro expansions and road corridors.
This high-impact visit underscores the government’s focus on infrastructure, connectivity, and inclusive growth as Modi marks the first anniversary of his third term.
