M V Kagro Food Product Ltd., a sugar manufacturer based in Nanded, Maharashtra, is planning a big step forward. The company has applied for approval to boost its sugarcane crushing capacity from 2,500 tonnes per day to 4,000 tonnes per day.

Key Highlights:
  • Right now, M V Kagro runs a single sugar plant that handles 2,500 tonnes of cane daily. Along with sugar, they also produce molasses, bagasse, and pressmud as by-products.
  • If the expansion gets the green light, the increased capacity will help the company meet rising demand and supply more sugar to both Indian and international markets.
  • The factory already uses by-products for things like captive power generation, making it a zero-waste operation. This focus on using every part of the cane is a big part of their business model.
  • The company works with sugarcane farmers from 177 villages, so they have a strong network for sourcing raw material.
There are plans in the works to diversify even further, including new projects for ethanol, bio-CNG, and fertilizer production—all of which use leftovers from sugar processing.
This expansion could mean more jobs locally and new revenue streams for the company, while also supporting its long-term growth.

Before any construction starts, M V Kagro will need to clear regulatory and environmental hurdles, but the application is a clear sign of their growth ambitions.
