Security has been significantly increased at Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport in Amritsar following recent regional tensions, with authorities restricting access to the gurudwara located within the airport premises and confirming no drone activity in the area.

Key Highlights:

Security forces have been deployed in greater numbers at Amritsar airport, and all movement is being closely monitored. The heightened measures are part of a broader security protocol in response to escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border and recent ceasefire violations.

Access to Gurdwara Santsar ji, situated inside the airport complex, has been temporarily restricted. Devotees who regularly visit the shrine, including those who have been coming for years, are being turned away as a precaution.

ACP Airport, Yadwinder Singh, assured the public that the situation remains peaceful and under control. He emphasized that there has been no drone activity, firing, or shelling reported in Amritsar or nearby districts such as Pathankot and Firozpur.

Authorities have urged the public and media to disregard rumors and misinformation circulating about airport security and to rely only on verified updates.

The closure of the gurudwara and increased security at the airport coincide with the suspension of civil flight operations at 32 airports across northern and western India until May 14, following cross-border hostilities.

Airlines have advised passengers to arrive early due to intensified screening and security checks, while visitor entry into airport terminals remains suspended.

The situation is being continuously monitored, and authorities have reassured citizens that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain safety and public order.
