NTPC and Gujarat Join Forces to Power India’s Green Future with 15 GW Renewable Push

NTPC Limited and the Government of Gujarat signed a landmark MoU on October 9, 2025, to jointly develop 15 GW of renewable energy projects. The agreement marks a strategic leap in India’s clean energy ambitions, combining NTPC’s technical expertise with Gujarat’s policy support to accelerate sustainable growth.

NTPC and Gujarat’s Energy Pact: A Strategic Overview

India’s largest integrated power utility, NTPC Limited, has partnered with the Government of Gujarat to explore and develop opportunities across both conventional and non-conventional energy sectors. The MoU was signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Mehsana, in the presence of key dignitaries including Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.

•⁠ ⁠NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd, will spearhead the development of 15 GW of renewable capacity in Gujarat

•⁠ ⁠The portfolio includes 10 GW of solar parks and 5 GW of wind energy projects, leveraging Gujarat’s abundant natural resources

•⁠ ⁠The initiative aligns with NTPC’s target of achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, supporting India’s Net Zero 2070 goals

•⁠ ⁠NTPC currently operates over 83 GW of installed capacity, with 30.90 GW under construction, including 13.3 GW in renewables
