NTPC Ltd, India’s largest power producer, has taken a significant leap in its renewable energy journey with the declaration of commercial operations for two new segments at its ambitious Khavda Solar Project in Gujarat. The company’s green energy subsidiary, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), announced the commissioning of 64.7 MW and 32.8 MW capacities, marking a robust stride toward the nation’s solar targets.

The 64.7 MW segment, part of the massive 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project, officially began commercial operation on June 30, 2025. This is the third segment of the project to go live, following earlier launches of 110.25 MW and 146.7 MW in June. With these additions, the total commissioned capacity at Khavda now stands at 321.65 MW, underlining NTPC’s rapid project execution and commitment to expanding its renewable portfolio.

The Khavda Solar Project is a flagship initiative in India’s push for clean energy, strategically located in Gujarat’s Bhuj region—an area recognized for its high solar irradiance and vast land availability. The project is expected to significantly boost NTPC’s renewable capacity and contribute to India’s ambitious goal of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

NTPC’s steady commissioning of new solar capacity not only strengthens its leadership in the green energy sector but also supports the national agenda of sustainable growth and energy security.
