Partnership on Track: Kinet and Tube Investments to Deliver the Ultimate Sleeper Train Experience

Kinet Railway Solutions has entered into a historic partnership with Tube Investments of India (TI India), part of the Murugappa Group, for the manufacture of coach carbodies for the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train project. This partnership is a milestone towards the development of India's domestic indigenous manufacturing capability and is firmly in consonance with the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission, which seeks to curtail import dependency and create indigenous technological capabilities.

 

TI India will use its vast experience in structural fabrication along with precision steel forming to provide world-class sleeper coach carbodies. The Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains, which are meant for long-distance travel, will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities like automatic doors, cushioned berths, onboard Wi-Fi, and contemporary interiors, making commuting more comfortable and efficient for people.

 

The initiative is set to revolutionize India's overnight train travel, with the trains designed to run at speeds of up to 180 km/h. Chennai's Integral Coach Factory has already built the first 16-car Vande Bharat Sleeper Train set, which has cleared tough trials. The manufacture of nine more train sets is planned by the end of this year and large-scale production of 24-car configurations from 2026-27.

 

This strategic alliance is expected to speed up the localization of key components, strengthen quality control, and enable sustainable urbanization, a milestone in India's path toward sophisticated, self-reliant rail mobility.
