Power Grid Expands Renewable Energy Transmission Network, Acquires Chitradurga Bellary REZ for ₹19.71 Crore

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has successfully acquired Chitradurga Bellary REZ Transmission Limited (CBRTL) for ₹19.71 crore, further strengthening its position in India's renewable energy transmission sector. This acquisition, completed on March 21, 2025, is part of PGCIL's ongoing efforts to expand its interstate transmission system (ISTS) projects.

This strategic move follows PGCIL's recent success in securing multiple ISTS projects through tariff-based competitive bidding. The CBRTL project is crucial for evacuating 5.5 GW of renewable energy from the region, supporting India's ambitious goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
