Mumbai Indians (MI) put out a statement of intent performance in IPL 2025 by humiliating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 100 runs at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium and becoming the leading side on the points table with 14 points. Choosing to bat first, MI openers Rohit Sharma (53 off 36) and Ryan Rickelton (61 off 38) started strongly with an imperious 116-run association. The momentum was carried forward as Suryakumar Yadav (48* off 21) and captain Hardik Pandya (48* off 23) went on a boundary-hitting spree in the death overs, taking MI to a formidable 217/2.
RR's pursuit was in trouble right from the beginning, Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah dismantling the top order and leaving the Royals at 35/5 within the powerplay. Boult (3/28) and Karn Sharma (3/23) spearheaded the bowling effort, while two wickets were added by Bumrah. RR were finally bowled out for 117 in 16.1 overs, Jofra Archer's 30 being the only resistance of note.
This emphatic win marks MI’s sixth consecutive victory-matching their best-ever streak-and knocks RR out of playoff contention. With 14 points, Mumbai Indians now sit comfortably atop the IPL 2025 standings, reaffirming their championship pedigree as the tournament heads into its decisive phase.
