In a significant boost for Haryana's farm sector, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has stated that 1450 farmers in the state will be provided with new tubewell connections in the next three months. The initiative is meant to increase irrigation facilities so that there is timely and sufficient water supply to the crops, particularly with kharif sowing season just around the corner.

The announcement was made during a review meeting with Power and Agriculture Department officials. The CM made it clear that the government was keen on helping farmers with quality infrastructure, declaring that the new tubewell connections will be given on priority basis to long-listed farmers.

Main points of the announcement are:

Accelerated approval and installation of tubewell connections to 1450 shortlisted farmers

Emphasis on the areas where there is water scarcity and where conventional irrigation is not adequate

Coordination between Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) for timely implementation

District-level monitoring committees to monitor the progress and resolve any problem being encountered by the farmers

Government officials said that the move is part of a larger plan to transform Haryana's agriculture and equip farmers with improved facilities. The government also promised that the process will be carried out transparently and applications will be dealt with in a just manner.

The farming community has appreciated the move, believing that with improved irrigation facilities, there will be higher crop production and better income.
