As India celebrates the grand Jagannath Rath Yatra today, June 27, 2025, banks in Bhubaneswar (Odisha) and Imphal (Manipur) will remain closed, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar. The closures are in observance of Rath Yatra and Kang, Manipur’s parallel chariot festival. However, banks in the rest of the country remain open, and digital banking services are fully operational nationwide.

Key Highlights:

- Where Banks Are Closed:
- Bhubaneswar (Rath Yatra)
- Imphal (Kang Festival)
- Extended Break: With June 28 (Saturday) and June 29 (Sunday) being regular weekend holidays, banks in these two cities will remain shut for three consecutive days.
- Online Banking Active: NEFT, RTGS, UPI, mobile apps, and ATM services are unaffected and available across all regions.
- Festival Significance:
- Rath Yatra in Puri features the ceremonial procession of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra in massive wooden chariots.
- Kang in Manipur mirrors this tradition, celebrated by the Meitei community with equal fervor.
- Next Bank Holiday: June 30 in Aizawl (Mizoram) for Remna Ni, commemorating the Mizoram Peace Accord.

Citizens in affected regions are advised to plan in-person banking accordingly, while the rest of India continues with regular banking operations.
