ReNew Power has announced a landmark investment of Rs 22,000 crore to establish India’s largest single-site renewable energy complex in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. The project marks the company’s return to the state after a six-year hiatus and is expected to significantly boost India’s clean energy capacity.
Transforming Andhra Pradesh’s Renewable Landscape
- The complex will be developed in Bethapalle village, Guntakal Assembly constituency, with groundbreaking scheduled for May 16
- The first phase will see an investment of Rs 7,000 crore, featuring 587 MW of solar power, 250 MW of wind energy, and a 415 MWh battery energy storage system
- Across all phases, the facility will reach a cumulative capacity of 1,800 MW of solar, 1 GW of wind, and 2,000 MWh of battery storage
Strategic Policy and Market Impact
- The project is the first major initiative under Andhra Pradesh’s Integrated Clean Energy Policy, launched in October 2024 to streamline approvals and attract green investments
- ReNew’s renewed commitment to the state follows discussions between IT Minister Nara Lokesh and ReNew Chairman Sumant Sinha at the World Economic Forum in Davos
