In a thrilling contest at the IPL, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) posted a competitive total of 190 in 19.2 overs, riding on a blistering 88 off just 47 balls by Sam Curran. Despite early setbacks, Curran’s aggressive stroke play, which included 9 fours and 4 sixes, gave CSK the much-needed momentum after a slow start.
Shaik Rasheed (11) and Ayush Mhatre (7) departed early, but Curran anchored the innings brilliantly. Ravindra Jadeja added a quickfire 17, while Dewald Brevis (32 off 26) played a supporting role. MS Dhoni, ever the finisher, smashed 11 off just 4 balls with a six and a four to finish things off in style.
Yuzvendra Chahal was the standout bowler, picking up4 wickets for 32 runs in 3 overs, clinching his second IPl Hat-trick and the first IPL Hat-trick since IPL 2023;while Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh claimed 2 wickets each. Azmatullah Omarzai proved expensive, conceding 39 in 4 overs. CSK were all out just two balls shy of the full 20 overs, with Khaleel Ahmed unbeaten and Matheesha Pathirana yet to bat.
The stage is now set for a high-octane chase as the opposition aims to overhaul CSK's formidable total. Will CSK's bowlers rise to the challenge?
