In a nail-biting finish at the IPL, Punjab Kings edged out Chennai Super Kings by four wickets with just two balls to spare, chasing down a challenging target of 191. Powered by a fiery 72 off 42 balls from Shreyas Iyer, Punjab kept the momentum alive despite a few hiccups in the middle order.
Openers Priyansh Arya (23) and Prabhsimran Singh (54) provided a solid start, with Prabhsimran’s explosive knock setting the tone. However, quick strikes by Chennai bowlers Matheesha Pathirana and Khaleel Ahmed saw Punjab briefly falter. Pathirana and Khaleel picked up two wickets apiece, keeping the pressure on.
Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh chipped in with useful cameos, while Marco Jansen’s 4* off just two balls sealed the win in the final over. Despite an expensive outing from their bowlers, Punjab’s aggressive batting ensured they reached 194/6 in 19.4 overs.
Chennai's bowling unit, though economical in patches, failed to contain the run flow at crucial junctures. With this win, Punjab Kings add vital points to their campaign, continuing their push for playoff contention.
