Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan landed in New York City before making his highly awaited appearance at the Met Gala 2025, generating excitement both at the airport and on social media. The global superstar, famous for his showy public entrances in India, caught fans and bystanders off guard with an astonishingly low-key arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Saturday.
Wearing a plain white T-shirt, gray jacket, and blue jeans, Shah Rukh was attended only by his long-time manager, Pooja Dadlani. Divorced from his typical huge entourage, the actor wheeled his own bags, towing one suitcase through the airport terminal. He was escorted by customs officials for a brief moment but paused to greet fans-handsclaps, hugs, and smiles-before proceeding to his car.
Fan accounts soon posted clips and pictures of the meeting, with one tearful caption stating, "SRK… dream come true." The actor's down-to-earth nature and one-on-one interactions with fans went a long way in charming and winning their hearts, many of whom called the moment "pure magic, pure love.".
Though there has been no confirmation from Shah Rukh Khan or Met Gala organizers about his attendance, rumors have grown stronger after suggestions from his manager and top fashion insiders. Social media went into a frenzy after his manager liked a tweet from the fashion account Diet Sabya, which hinted at Shah Rukh's collaboration with top Indian designer Sabyasachi for the event. If true, this would be the superstar's first-ever visit to the high-profile fashion gala, and he would be the first Indian man to tread the Met carpet in such a high-profile manner.
Met Gala 2025, held on May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, will pay tribute to the theme "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," based on Monica L. Miller's Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. Indian actors Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh, as well as Shah Rukh Khan, join the list of celebrities making their Met Gala appearance this year and increasing the international appeal of the event.
As the excitement mounts, everyone is now waiting with bated breath for Shah Rukh Khan's red carpet appearance, designed by Sabyasachi, which will turn heads and make Indian fashion proud on a global platform.
