The upcoming cinematic adaptation of Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has received glowing praise from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Speaking at the WAVES 2025 summit in Mumbai, Fadnavis expressed his admiration for the film’s exceptional quality, stating that it has the potential to be the best in the world.
The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Raavan, alongside Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The project aims to blend India’s ancient storytelling traditions with cutting-edge technology to create a visually stunning experience. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, after viewing a glimpse of the film, praised its visual quality and storytelling approach.
Ramayana is set to release in two parts, with the first installment arriving in theaters on Diwali 2026 and the second part following in 2027. The film’s producer, Namit Malhotra, emphasized the goal of bringing Indian storytelling to a global platform, ensuring that the epic resonates with audiences worldwide.
Industry analysts believe that Ramayana’s ambitious scale and meticulous production approach could redefine Indian cinema’s global presence. With a reported budget of 835 crores for its first part, the film is expected to set new benchmarks in visual storytelling.
