Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation to expedite ongoing infrastructure projects across the state while ensuring strict adherence to quality standards. The directive comes ahead of the monsoon season, with a focus on completing critical roadworks to prevent disruptions.
Key Developments in Infrastructure Projects
- The Mumbai-Nashik highway remains a priority, with 31 kilometers of concrete work still pending. Shinde has instructed officials to complete the work before the monsoon or ensure temporary asphalt surfacing for smooth traffic flow.
- The railway overbridge at Pimpri-Charoti has faced delays, prompting orders for swift completion within a month.
- The Mumbai-Pune Expressway’s missing link project is progressing, with the vertical bridge expected to be completed by December.
Expansion Plans and Environmental Considerations
- MSRDC is evaluating a proposal to expand the Mumbai-Pune Expressway from six lanes to ten, with an estimated cost of Rs 14,900 crore.
- The Pune Ring Road project involves replanting 10,000 affected trees, with 4,000 already relocated using scientific methods.
- Nine creek bridges are under construction along the Revas-Reddi marine highway, enhancing connectivity in the Konkan region.
Community Engagement and Future Outlook
