India will host the firstever Women's T20 Cricket World Cup for the Blind from November 5 to November 25, 2025, becoming the first nation to organize this historic event, a sports feat of inclusivity. The announcement was made during the 15th Annual General Meeting of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), with 23 states and union territories in attendance.
Key Highlights:
-
Historic First: It is the first global T20 tournament in the history of women's blind cricket and six nations, including India and Pakistan, will take part.
-
Hybrid Format: In the event of diplomatic sensitivities, Pakistan's matches will be hosted at a neutral ground—Nepal or Sri Lanka—under a hybrid format. India will have to traverse there to host them.
-
CABI's contribution: Logistics, sponsorship, and outreach will be facilitated by CABI, which has also committed to sponsoring the entire cost of Pakistan's attendance at the neutral venue.
-
Global Vision: The tournament supports the World Blind Cricket Council's (WBCC) global vision of promoting blind cricket all over the world, with India also leading the development of the game in the USA and UAE.
-
Grassroots Movement: The AGM also emphasized developing grassroots initiatives to improve women's involvement in blind cricket across India.
This tournament is not only a sports tournament—it's a strong message regarding access, equity, and empowerment through sport.
