Sky-High Milestone: Guwahati Airport’s Passenger Surge Marks Historic Growth In 2025

Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI) has marked a historic milestone, recording its highest ever passenger traffic in 2025. Managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, the airport handled 7.01 million passengers during the year, cementing its position as the leading aviation hub of Northeast India.

Key Highlights

• The 7.01 million passengers included 3.5 million domestic arrivals and 3.4 million domestic departures, alongside 45,423 international arrivals and 45,474 international departures.
• The airport registered its highest single-day passenger movement on October 5, 2025, when 22,089 travelers, including transit passengers, passed through its terminals.
• Cargo operations also reached new heights, with 1,362 metric tonnes handled in December 2025 the highest monthly volume since commercial operations began. Of this, 374 metric tonnes were perishable cargo, surpassing the earlier record of 254 metric tonnes in January 2025.
• The airport recorded its highest-ever single-day cargo tonnage on December 22, 2025, at 60 metric tonnes.
• International connectivity expanded significantly, with new routes to Paro, Bangkok, and Singapore, enhancing Guwahati’s role as a regional gateway.
• Aircraft movements totaled 47,550 domestic and 1,000 international flights, reflecting the airport’s growing importance in both passenger and cargo operations.
