Low-cost carrier SpiceJet has added additional departures on December 5 and 6 from major Indian cities, mainly Delhi and Mumbai, to help stranded passengers amid IndiGo’s mass cancellations. The airline is operating nearly 30 extra flights, including to Ayodhya, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Jaipur and international hubs like Dubai and Bangkok.
Extra capacity amid IndiGo turmoil
With IndiGo cancelling hundreds of flights and shutting all domestic departures from Delhi for December 5, travellers across India have faced severe disruption and soaring fares. In response, SpiceJet announced on X and other platforms that it is adding extra departures on December 5 and 6 from major metros, notably Delhi and Mumbai, to provide immediate relief.
The new services cover both domestic and international routes, including additional rotations on high-demand sectors such as Delhi–Mumbai, Mumbai–Jaipur, Mumbai–Bengaluru, as well as Delhi/Mumbai–Dubai and Delhi–Bangkok. These flights ride on SpiceJet’s already expanded winter schedule, under which the airline plans to operate around 250 flights a day.
