In a vibrant tribute to Indian culture and sustainable fashion, MATS University’s School of Fashion Designing and Technology organized the Khadi Fashion Show ‘Charkha’ on October 7, 2025, in Raipur. Timed to coincide with Gandhi Jayanti, the event celebrated Khadi as a symbol of self-reliance, heritage, and contemporary design.

Purpose and Theme: ‘Charkha’ aimed to revive interest in Khadi among young designers and spotlight its versatility in modern fashion. The show emphasized India’s rich textile heritage and the relevance of indigenous fabrics in today’s design landscape.
Inauguration Ceremony: The event was inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Shri Rakesh Pandey (Chairman, Chhattisgarh Khadi Gramodyog Board), Dr. Sunil Vyas, and Dr. Krishna Vyas. University dignitaries including Chancellor Shri Gajraj Pagaria and Vice Chancellor Dr. K.P. Yadav were also present.
