Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy has written his name in the history of IPL as the second-fastest spinner to reach 100 wickets when KKR played against Chennai Super Kings at Eden Gardens on Wednesday. Chakravarthy achieved the feat in just 83 games, equalling Amit Mishra and Rashid Khan's record and surpassing Yuzvendra Chahal's 84-innings record. He took a magnificent four-over spell of 2/18 and dismissed Ravindra Jadeja and Dewald Brevis, but KKR lost the game narrowly.

With this feat, Chakravarthy has 100 wickets at 23.31 average and economy rate of 7.47 and is KKR's third-highest wicket-taker after Sunil Narine and Andre Russell. He leads KKR's bowling table this season with 17 wickets in 12 matches, cementing his status as one of the league's best spinners.
