YouTube CEO Neal Mohan has declared India a “Creator Nation,” underscoring the platform’s deep commitment to making the country a global entertainment powerhouse. Speaking at Mumbai’s World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), Mohan revealed that over 100 million Indian channels uploaded videos in the past year, with more than 15,000 surpassing one million subscribers. YouTube has paid Indian creators, artists, and media companies over ₹21,000 crore in the last three years, powering a thriving digital economy.
To keep this momentum going, Mohan invested another ₹850 crore in two years to drive infrastructure, nurturing talent, and taking Indian creators global. Mohan referenced empowering stories such as KL Bro Biju from Kerala, showing how YouTube empowers ordinary Indians to build businesses and international fan bases.
