In a powerful show of community commitment, Indian Premier League side Punjab Kings, in partnership with Round Table India, opened two new blocks of classes each in two government schools in Punjab, a major boost to the state's education infrastructure. The project is part of the ongoing 'Freedom Through Education' program, which aims to empower weaker children by giving them better learning spaces.

Inauguration Locations:
  • Government Primary School, Sharif Manakpur
  • Government Senior Secondary School, Pandwala (Dera Bassi, SAS Nagar)
Facilities Included:
  • Three new classroom blocks with new blackboards, new tables, and new benches
  • Enhanced infrastructure including computer rooms, sports facilities, and enhanced toilet blocks
Impact:
  • Over 34,100 students have been impacted by classroom building construction alone in the past two years.
  • More than 30 newly built classrooms, with the whole project from inception reaching more than 10.2 million children nationwide through 9,272 classrooms and 3,782 projects

  • Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon explained the franchise's emphasis on youth investment and empowering education
  • LC Gupta, the CFO, emphasized the need for community investment beyond cricket, prioritizing long-term progress for children
