Recent research indicates that water mining in the moon could be less challenging than anticipated. India's Chandrayaan-3 mission has made a breakthrough that higher latitudes on the moon, which face toward the poles, could make it easier to extract ice because of lower temperatures. Further missions by NASA's Lunar Trailblazer and Intuitive Machines' Athena lander are also investigating the moon's water supply. The missions hope to chart water supplies and probe extraction techniques, making future missions to the moon more feasible.
