The Tiruvarur District Food Safety and Medicines Department has introduced a dedicated WhatsApp number (9444042322) for consumers to report food adulteration complaints, aiming to enhance food safety monitoring. The announcement was made during the World Food Safety Day conference, organized by the Tamil Nadu Consumer Protection and Environment Research Centre in collaboration with the Food Safety and Medicines Department.
Speaking at the event, Food Safety Officer S. Anbazhagan emphasized the importance of preventing foodborne diseases by ensuring clean water and safe food consumption, particularly for children and senior citizens. The department urged residents to report expired food products, contaminated water, and other food safety violations via the WhatsApp helpline.
Authorities believe this initiative will strengthen consumer protection, enabling swift action against food adulteration cases and ensuring public health safety.
