The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is tackling poor indoor connectivity with a new rating system for properties, ensuring better mobile and internet coverage inside homes. The initiative, called “Rating of Properties for Digital Connectivity Regulations, 2024”, aims to push builders to integrate engineered solutions for seamless connectivity.

Key Highlights:
  • TRAI introduces property rating system to improve indoor mobile & Wi-Fi coverage.
  • Builders urged to implement engineered solutions for better connectivity.
  • Five agencies have applied to become official digital connectivity rating evaluators.
  • TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti emphasizes the need for reliable indoor networks.
  • Draft manual released for standardizing property connectivity assessments.
The move comes as call drops and weak Wi-Fi signals remain a major frustration for homebuyers and tenants. TRAI hopes the rating system will nudge developers to prioritize digital infrastructure, making connectivity a key factor in real estate decisions.
