Türkiye’s space sector has just hit a remarkable milestone! The Turksat 6A, the country’s very first fully homegrown communication satellite, has landed its first export deal, providing satellite capacity to South Asian markets like India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. This exciting news was revealed at the CABSAT 2025 Fair in Dubai, where the agreement was signed with a Dubai-based company, marking Türkiye’s first venture into exporting satellite services to this region.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu emphasized that this deal not only showcases Türkiye’s technical capabilities but also highlights its rise as a global player in satellite technology. With over 80% of its components sourced locally, Turksat 6A now expands Türkiye’s satellite coverage to over 5 billion people, reaching from Western Europe all the way to India and from Central Asia to South Africa. This export signifies a significant shift from depending on foreign satellites to exporting Turkish-engineered capacity, reinforcing the country’s technological independence in space.

Developed by TUBITAK UZAY, TAI, ASELSAN, and CTECH, Turksat 6A is set to operate for at least 15 years, supporting television broadcasting, emergency communications, and data transmission. With this achievement, Türkiye joins an exclusive club of just 11 countries that can produce and export their own communication satellites.
