News Update: In a bid to enhance transparency and accuracy in reporting, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced new UDIN portal fields for Emphasis of Matter (EOM) and Key Audit Matters (KAM) in reports under SRS 4410. The move is intended to bring compilation engagements in line with evolving stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements.
Update Highlights:
Engaged Practising Chartered Accountants are now required to report KAM and EOM, as applicable, while generating UDINs on compilation reports under SRS 4410
The new categories would be needed only if these disclosures are included in the practitioner's report
This modification has an immediate effect and is a part of ICAI's ongoing endeavors toward greater document traceability and audit trail integrity
Why It Matters:
KAM and EOM disclosures allow the financial statement users to understand issues of prevailing professional judgment or issues that need to be accorded special prominence
The revision brings compilation engagements closer to transparency level of assurance, although SRS 4410 does not cover audit or review.
It also helps regulators and third parties to ascertain the depth and breadth of reporting
