Uno Minda has announced a significant expansion in its alloy wheel manufacturing operations, reinforcing its commitment to meeting growing market demand. The company has commenced commercial production of an additional 2.0 million alloy wheels at its Supa facility in Maharashtra, further strengthening its presence in the automotive components sector.
In addition to this expansion, Uno Minda is setting up a new manufacturing facility in Bawal, Haryana, which will have an annual production capacity of 1.5 million alloy wheels. This move aligns with the company’s strategy to enhance localization and reduce dependence on imports, supporting the government’s Make in India initiative.
The total investment for these capacity expansions is estimated at 2 billion rupees, financed through a combination of internal accruals and debt. The Haryana facility is expected to commence operations by the second quarter of the 2027 financial year, catering to recently secured orders and rising demand from original equipment manufacturers.
Uno Minda first entered the two-wheeler alloy wheel segment in 2021 with a greenfield facility in Maharashtra. Since then, the company has steadily increased its production capacity, positioning itself as a key player in India’s alloy wheel market.
Expansion Highlights:
-
Commercial production begins for 2.0 million additional alloy wheels in Maharashtra.
-
New facility in Haryana to produce 1.5 million alloy wheels annually.
-
Total investment for capacity expansion estimated at 2 billion rupees.
-
Haryana facility expected to be operational by the second quarter of FY 2027.
-
Expansion supports localization efforts and aligns with the Make in India initiative.
