Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey has opened up about a brief but eye-opening phase in his career when he spent ₹60,000 per event renting designer outfits to fit into the glitzy world of celebrity PR. In a candid conversation on Rhea Chakraborty’s podcast, the 12th Fail star revealed that he tried to “play the game” by attending parties and getting papped in high-end fashion—but it came at a steep personal cost.
Massey admitted that for nearly five months, he rented expensive clothes to appear more marketable to producers and casting directors. However, it was his then-girlfriend (now wife), Sheetal Thakur, who jolted him back to reality by pointing out that he was spending their entire monthly household budget on a single outfit worn for just a few hours.
Key Highlights:
- Vikrant spent ₹50,000–₹60,000 per event on rented designer clothes.
- He pursued this strategy for 4–5 months to gain visibility in Bollywood.
- Sheetal Thakur reminded him that the cost equaled their monthly expenses.
- The actor felt “conscious and uncomfortable” in the outfits, fearing damage.
- He eventually abandoned the PR-driven lifestyle, calling it inauthentic.
- Massey emphasized that while it works for some, it didn’t align with his values.
Now gearing up for the release of Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan on July 11, Vikrant says he’s found peace in authenticity—and success seems to be following suit.
