Organic Recycling Systems Ltd (ORSL) has landed a key contract with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) for its biogas plant in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. This deal puts ORSL in charge of the plant’s day-to-day running, and it’s a big moment in India’s push toward cleaner energy.
What’s the deal about?
The plant converts around 200 tons of farm waste into 20 tons of Compressed Biogas (CBG) daily. ORSL will handle staffing, service maintenance, safety protocols, and supply of spare parts—basically keeping everything up and running. It's a long-term responsibility, not just a setup job.
Why this matters
-
Gorakhpur is now home to IOCL’s second major CBG facility in Uttar Pradesh
-
This kind of project helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels while supporting local
farmers
-
ORSL brings niche experience in waste-to-energy operations, which could help make the plant a model for other states
Big-picture impact
-
Around 120 jobs will be created directly through this project, a clear win for local employment
-
The contract strengthens ORSL’s presence in the bio-energy space, giving it a foothold in large-scale public sector initiatives
-
For IOCL, it’s another step toward building out India’s renewable infrastructure with trusted partners
This is more than a business deal—it’s part of a bigger story about India turning agricultural waste into clean fuel and opportunity.
