Tejas Networks is teaming up with Rakuten Symphony to bring advanced software features into its 4G and 5G product lines. The partnership is centered around integrating Rakuten’s RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC)—a platform that uses AI to improve how mobile networks perform. It's already in action across Japan and has shown it can help cut power use and manage traffic more efficiently.
By combining Tejas’ existing hardware with Rakuten’s software smarts, the companies are setting their sights on building more flexible and programmable telecom networks. That’s good news for global operators looking to shift toward Open RAN architecture, which lets different vendors' gear work together more easily. It's also a big step toward boosting local tech capabilities under India’s broader self-reliance goals.
Tejas, which is backed by the Tata Group, has already delivered over 100,000 4G/5G sites for BSNL and posted a 261% jump in revenue in FY25. Adding Rakuten’s software tools to its mix helps Tejas move further up the value chain in both domestic and international markets.
If all goes according to plan, this partnership could help reshape how networks are built and managed—not just in India, but across other emerging markets too.
