India has announced plans to build the world’s largest museum, Yuge Yugeen Bharat, in New Delhi. Spread across the historic North and South Blocks, the museum will showcase 5,000 years of India’s civilizational journey. The first gallery is set to open in 2026, with full completion expected in three years.
India is set to make cultural history with the creation of Yuge Yugeen Bharat, a national museum in New Delhi that will become the largest in the world, surpassing the Louvre in Paris. Developed under the Central Vista Redevelopment Project, the museum will span 1.55 lakh square metres and house 80,000–100,000 artefacts across nearly 30 thematic galleries.
The first gallery will open by the end of 2026 in the North Block, marking the beginning of a new chapter in India’s cultural storytelling. Once fully operational, the museum will provide visitors with a comprehensive view of India’s 5,000-year-old heritage, from the Indus Valley Civilization to modern times.
