NHPC's Parbati-II Hydroelectric Project Nears Completion as Unit 2 Trial Run Succeeds

NHPC Limited has successfully completed the trial run of Unit 2 (200 MW) of the Parbati-II Hydroelectric Project in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. This milestone brings the 800 MW project closer to its anticipated commissioning date of March 31, 2025. The project, featuring India's longest hydropower tunnel at 31.56 km, is set to significantly boost NHPC's installed capacity to 8,032 MW. With all four 200 MW units expected to be synchronized by the end of March, Parbati-II will generate 3,074 MU of design energy annually. The project's completion marks a major achievement for NHPC in its Golden Jubilee year, overcoming numerous challenges since its inception in 1999.
