Omlo Brings Rajasthan’s Soul to Cannes Film Festival 2025

Rajasthani cinema is making waves on the global stage as Omlo, a socio-drama directed by Sonu Randeep Choudhury, secures a prestigious spot at the Cannes Film Market 2025. The film, set in the rustic town of Shree Dungargarh, Bikaner, tells a deeply emotional story of a seven-year-old boy and a camel, both navigating parallel paths of silent suffering and helplessness.  

Omlo’s narrative sheds light on generational trauma, patriarchal struggles, and the unspoken hope for change within families weighed down by societal norms. The film’s raw portrayal of human and animal suffering has earned it a place among Cannes’ curated selection of impactful independent films.  

Produced by Hare Krishna Pictures, Omlo features performances by Shambho Mahajan, Sonali Sharmistha, and Sonu Randeep Choudhury. The cinematography by Wilson Rabinse and a haunting background score by Devendra Bhome further elevate the film’s immersive storytelling.  

Following its Cannes showcase, Omlo is set for a world premiere at the 26th Rainbow International Film Festival in London, continuing its journey across international platforms. The film’s selection at Cannes marks a significant milestone for Rajasthani cinema, bringing regional storytelling to a global audience.
