The medicines under review are understood to belong to the National List of Essential Medicines and include widely used antibiotics, painkillers, anti diabetics and critical care formulations. The proposal comes after sharp increases in the cost of active pharmaceutical ingredients, solvents and petrochemical based inputs, a trend worsened by global supply disruptions and higher crude linked costs.
