Platform Power: Pune Railways Fast-Tracks Expansion Plans

Pune’s railway infrastructure is set for a transformative upgrade as officials unveiled plans to introduce 60 new train services and construct six additional platforms across key stations. The expansion, part of a five-year master plan, is designed to meet the growing demand for suburban and long-distance travel in the region.  

Currently, Pune handles around 110 suburban train services daily, which will rise to nearly 180 once the new services are operational. The number of trains between Pune and Daund will also increase from 75 to 125, easing commuter pressure. Railway authorities emphasized that the expansion will not only boost capacity but also improve punctuality, reduce waiting times, and enhance safety.
