Powerful 4.8 Magnitude Earthquake Rattles Islamabad and Rawalpindi

A significant earthquake shook the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday night, February 15, 2025, at 10:48 PM local time. The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) reported that the tremor measured 4.8 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter located just 8 kilometers southeast of the twin cities. The quake's origin was 17 kilometers deep, causing widespread panic as residents rushed out of their homes and offices. Tremors were also felt in surrounding areas, including Murree, Gujar Khan, Talagang, Jhelum, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. As of now, no casualties or significant damage have been reported, but authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
